Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s recovery plan is going entirely to plan and the striker cannot wait to get back on the field to help contribute to AC Milan’s season.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls how Ibrahimovic has not been able to train with his team-mates since last May after he underwent surgery on his left knee ligaments immediately after the Scudetto win.
Yesterday, when his team-mates arrived at Milanello for the team lunch, Ibrahimovic had already been at work for a couple of hours which is a testament to his incredible commitment. At 41 years of age he is working as much as he is allowed to get back to doing what he loves most: playing football.
Yesterday he trained in the gym in Milanello from 10:00 in the morning until early afternoon, pushing hard to recover within the times that have been set. It was expected he would be out for 7-8 months after he had his operation and everything is going smoothly.
Ibrahimovic is monitored by the Milan medical staff, who know perfectly his medical history while the database that the doctors and physiotherapists have access to contains valuable information on every parameter of the Swede such as strength, speed and endurance.
Zlatan will be able to return to training in a group under the orders of Stefano Pioli in January 2023 should all go to plan from here, so he should be available to Milan for the second part of this season.
In the coming weeks Ibrahimovic’s routine will also include running and exercises with the ball, with the 41-year-old desperate to offer his contribution to the team in the second half of the season, perhaps for the Scudetto sprint and even potentially playing the Champions League round of 16 in February 2023.
