GdS: Ibrahimovic forced off during Juventus draw – the latest on his condition

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was hoping to be one of the main protagonists in the massive game between AC Milan and Juventus last night, but just like the match overall it was an anti-climax of sorts.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports, Ibrahimovic lasted just 28 minutes before he was forced off the field due to a problem with the Achilles tendon of his right leg. In the next few hours, the player will undergo some checks to understand the extent of his injury but it is not expected to be anything serious.

That means that he shouldn’t spend long out and his presence in the derby against Inter scheduled after the international break should not be in doubt. Of course at Milanello they do not want to take risks and therefore Ibra will be available to Pioli only when he has fully recovered, but the Swede blamed his injury on the poor condition of the San Siro pitch.

Nonetheless, the 40-year-old will have two weeks to solve this problem and be ready for the derby against Inter, which after the draw last night has essentially become a do-or-die game.
