AC Milan have confirmed that striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undergone surgery on his knee and will be out for a considerable amount of time.
Through a statement on the club’s official website, they have confirmed that Ibrahimovic underwent an operation on his left knee today and that his estimated recovery time is 7-8 months.
It has been well documented that the Swede was playing through a difficult situation with his knee towards the back end of last season that was preventing him from ever getting close to 100% fit and instead was restricting him to only appearances off the bench.
That has led to speculation about what the future might hold given Ibrahimovic’s deal runs out at the end of next month, and while we can probably expect word soon, it seems unlikely at this stage that he will carry on playing into his 40s as planned.
The Scudetto win may go down as his last big contribution to the Rossoneri and to football, though we will hear more in the coming days and weeks no doubt.
It is time, Sir. You surely will be missed in the football pitch. If you still llve football so much, you can still join with Dida. This kids still need you in the dressing room and in Milanello.

Succinctly stated. Forza Rossoneri!
So obviously Milan management knew that this was going to happen. Yet, they still offered him a new deal? so that tells me that he will continue in one way or another – hopefully it will be with Milan!
Grande Ibra!
What new deal? If Milan offered something that Ibra was going to take he would have taken it. My impression is that he is done, at least at Milan. It is May. At the earliest he will be available after the WC, maybe not until January, and then another step slower. It’s time for us to cut ties with him, at least as a player. If he agrees to stay on in some capacity with the coaching or management team he is welcome.

LOL. You know nothing, Jon Snow. Some of you guys are so full of it. You think you know it all. 😀
I think a certain Nicolo Schira know more than you do:

yeah he will continue forsure hope he recover faster than 7-8months!!!
Legend for the club, up there with the very best we have ever had, I hope he will stay at the club maybe in the place of Boban as a sporting director or maybe as a forwards coach. Either way we need to keep his winning mentality around these young players.
I think he will stay for one more season. The fact that he got the surgery that soon means he will be back.
Sign him as a player/coach. Invaluable off the field. May play a game once a month but invaluable off the pitch. Sign Nunez as starter with Giroud backup and play Origi at RW…
Have you ever seen Origi play as a winger?
Shame i was looking forward to seeing him next season as well as I do believe it will mean that he will retire as he recently hinted that he probably would retire if he had to get a surgery with an outcome of a long recovery. I wouldn’t mind giving him a 1year extension as a coach/player and then let him have his last swan song in milan as a player wining the 20th scudetto. When that is said this injury has made it even more paramount that we get some more additions upfront than maybe initially planned as his role will be limited to even less matches when now returning.
In the end milan should find him a role in the club if he retires as a player.
No he wont retire dude very obvious he wil play 1 more year atleast!! lets goo zlatan!!!
You really think Zlatan will quit here? He has said a million times before: he will quit on HIS terms when HE wants to. This is not how he will retire.
I’ll bet anyone in the comments a 1000€ that Ibra will play for Milan again.
he will play for milan, and one way or another milan still needs him, we had a great season because we won the title, but it’s not the end, there’s another season in the coming also the ucl, we need experience like that on-field and on the dressing room.
