Ibrahimovic one goal away from setting new Serie A record with return imminent

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the field feels imminent given that he is now fully recovered and was part of the squad for the trip to Monza, and he has a record in sight.

Ibrahimovic has had a long absence having not played a game since the 3-0 win over Sassuolo last May 22 to win the Scudetto, but he returned to Stefano Pioli’s disposal for the match against Torino and his presence on the bench – along with a goal from Giroud – was enough to end a seven-game winless run.

Zlatan wants to reignite that fire and competitive spirit inside him when he steps back out onto the field in his next official game, and there is also a record that he wants to make his own too.

RadioRossonera recall how Ibrahimovic turned 41 in October and that means a goal would be enough for him to surpass another Rossoneri legend in Billy Costacurta, who is the oldest ever Serie A scorer at 41 years and 25 days.
