AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he has ‘never suffered so much’ having played ‘without an anterior cruciate ligament’ in his left knee for six months.

Through a statement on the club’s official website, they have confirmed that Ibrahimovic underwent an operation on his left knee in Lyon yesterday and that his estimated recovery time is 7-8 months.

Ibrahimovic posted a message on Instagram a day after the surgery, revealing the ordeal that he went through

“For the past six months I have played without an anterior cruciate ligament in my left knee. My knee had been swollen for six months,” he began.

“I have only been able to train with the team 10 times in the past six months. They have given more than 20 injections in six months. They emptied my knee once a week for six months. Painkillers every day for six months. I barely slept for six months because of the pain.

“I have never suffered so much on and off the pitch. I made something impossible into something possible. In my mind I had only one goal, to make my team-mates and coach Italian champions because I made them a promise. Today I have a new anterior cruciate ligament and another trophy.”

  1. Ibra, you’re a real leader to bring Milan back to the. You have to stay on or off the pitch until the young players grow more as the real milan players for another year.

  2. Ibra is a maniac.
Playing football where you make a lot of sudden moves, cuts especially laterally without an ACL is crazy.
Knee is unstable and can give out at any moment risking bigger injury and even worse long term issues.
You gotta do all that for the love of the game and nothing more, when you have won almost everything and made generational wealth.
Yeah he is definitely coming back unless there are some complications during recovery.
We’ll be waiting for Ibra after the World Cup

  3. Wish him a good recovery!! Hope he is back after world cup or before!! Zlatan!!! Obvious he wont let this injury retire him he will be back!!!
