Zlatan Ibrahimovic no longer appears to be the key man in the appointment of a new head coach and director(s), a report claims.
According to what is being reported by MilanVibes, Ibrahimovic was not present at the meeting with Oliver Glasner on Tuesday. RedBird’s Senior Advisor ‘has taken a step back’ in recent days, with Massimo Calvelli and Gerry Cardinale taking full control of the entire selection process.

The goal is to eliminate internal conflict, make a decision based on a shared vision, and guide a coherent and clear project based on this, ignoring past disagreements and with a shared belief in what is being accomplished.
Ibra out of the picture
There has been speculation in recent days that there was a clear divide in the upper echelons, with Ibrahimovic favouring Arne Slot as the head coach and Ramon Planes as the sporting director, while Cardinale favoured the Ralf Rangnick route.
What emerges is that Zlatan no longer appears to be at the forefront of the decision-making process for Milan’s future. This is evidenced by his significant absence from the meeting with Glasner, even if we don’t know the exact reason for this at the moment.
Even the reliable Matteo Moretto reported on Tuesday that there seems to have been some quite strong disagreements between the Milan owner and his Senior Advisor.
“But even here, we can anticipate that in these hours of great reflection, restructuring, and discussions at Milan, there have been some rather heated discussions between Ibrahimovic and Cardinale, certainly for the good of Milan and to reach solutions that can be useful and beneficial for the club.
“At this time, there’s also a bit of uncertainty and tension is growing. Ibrahimovic and Cardinale, those who must reorganise the organizational chart, still don’t have a clear path forward.”
I bet Zlatan is in “heated discussions” with the the man who lives in his mirror as well. I’ve only said this jokingly in the past, but as time goes by, it seems this guy needs actual medical help.
I actually like Calvelli, he admitted he doesn’t know much about the sporting parts and that’s why he wants to bring people with experience and give them power, unlike Furlani who acted like he knew everything… let’s hope Calvelli becomes the CEO otherwise we end up with Pochettino and Ibra’s buddies

He can be getting ready to cover the world cup in the US. Also, he can give his advice, disagree and keep it moving. That is how discussions and debates happen in the sporting world, with strong opinions and passionate arguments. In the end, you state your case, then the job is done. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot is being sensationalized for the sake of selling ads and getting eyes on so called reports. You can also have fake leaks coming from the club to see who is reporting facts and to also keep people off your trail so they can’t figure out your next course of action. This can give you an upperhand. I hope the go German route.
Wow, one sane person in the comments! People are like sheep and believe every rumor and that everyone hates each other. 99% have never worked in a big organization or in a club environment and believe every sensationalist media outlet which only job is selling ads and subscriptions.
I spoke to head scouts, regional ones for NHL hockey teams often at local junior hockey games, also the junior team scouts. The process of drafting or aquiring talents/assets, have years of data, reports, debates, interviews and extensive research, comparisons etc. The discussions as I’ve been told can and usually get very intense even when they are maintaining their professionalism. Most of what is reported is hogwash or sensationalized, greatly exaggerated to make the product entertaining. Draw eyes and attention to broadcasts, columns etc. Ibra on the field is hyper intense and very confrontational, so clashing with teammates or other staff people is common. They know and expect it. Things are said then that is all there is to it. High stakes, high pressure and no margin for error will bring the best and worst out of people. People in those environments are competitive, passionate and this stuff is typical.
I have family members that were involved in elite level sporting institutions as well. I can say, clearly, there are usual, regular disputes, usually those are productive and help cover all bases when it comes to rendering final decisions when it all boils down. When Furliani’s of the world, finance guys, act like know it alls, overstep their boundaries and office people get involved with the sporting side, that is a ticking time bomb.
Honestly, he should have been the only one getting canned. When those people interfere, then no one’s role and responsibilities are respected, it blurs lines and you get what we had since Cardinale took over, severed downturns. It starts with ownership then trickes down to Furliani’s. They can spoil an entire structure. They did. I’d be more concerned about that, then lottle heated moments at lunches or dinners.
Taking up the commentator job when he should be focusing on building the new Milan says everything people need to know. He needs to go as he’s (surprisingly…) thinking about himself only and not the club.
I loved Ibra as a player; but he’s not doing well in this role.
Glasner is the best available candidate clearly; but Ibra doesn’t see that. Big mistake. Glasner has done nothing but WIN … first at LASK having the club’s best seasons/streak ever; then at Wolfsburg qualifying that club for Champions League; then won Europa League with Frankfurt and made multiple Pokal Finals and now won 3 major trophies with Crystal Palace in only 12 months after that 120 year club had ZERO trophies. HIRE HIM!
