Since returning to AC Milan more than 12 months ago, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had his fair share of criticism, and today, he has spoken about his job in detail.
New information about Ibrahimovic’s role, power and ideas are consistently coming out as Milan find themselves in different situations and as was the case in the summer, it seems the Swede will be the key man in the upcoming mercato.
In addition to this, Ibrahimovic could find himself being decisive in the future of the head coach. Despite Paulo Fonseca not being under the spotlight yet, he is very close to being, and his position is seemingly weakening, regardless of reports of calm among the management.
Today, words from Ibrahimovic to Harvard Business School were published in a 24-page long document, alongside comments from other key members of the management, and he spoke about his job as well as his relationship with other members of the staff – his words have been transcribed by Milan News.
Relationship with Furlani…
“Giorgio and I first met when he came in during the Elliott period. When he became CEO, we sat down to talk and he liked the meeting enough to encourage Gerry to meet with me. Gerry initially said he didn’t want to hire former players, but Giorgio convinced him that I was different.
“When it comes to numbers, we rely on Giorgio. When he starts doing his calculations, like which players we can afford, he’s a monster.”
On his role…
“I am Zlatan and my role is to be Zlatan. I have a lot to learn, but I think I also have a lot to give and I wanted to be in a position where I can make a difference. One of my responsibilities here at Milan is to grow the winning mentality of the team and to make sure that the team produces results.
“I tell the players: ‘When you are here at Milan, if you get results, you can make history’. I am close to the team but not too close, I am in a different position than when I was a player along with many others who are still in the team.”
Used to be a lion on the pitch now a club clown off the pitch. 🤡
I don’t think he fully understands what he himself is supposed to be doing. On one hand he’s supposed to be “motivating” but in a different interview he doesn’t want to be “too close” to the players and coach. This Zlatan is a joke.
Can we just please get a competent Sporting Director for Christmas?
Oh yes he does. He is laughing his way to the bank
Narcissist confirmed. The more he speaks about himself the more obvious who he is. Clown.
In other words, the energizer bunny. But seriously even after this article, I still don’t know what his role is. Is he some kind of high profile mascot, or a spin doctor for Gerry or what? 🤦🏾♂️
-One of my responsibilities here at Milan is to grow the winning mentality of the team and to make sure that the team produces results-
Well Ibra old buddy. You are definitely failing at this one
LOL. Well said.
More like a proud mascot.
So his job is to force, sorry, motivate this average, mediocre team to punch above their weight. And of course play a media clown.
Fantastic player…and clown now as a .. whatever it is…
Zlatan was a great player! Unfortunately, along with Cardinale, Moncada, and Furlani he is just a buffoon now.
We need to strike! No more season tickets! No more watching games at San Siro or on TV. Once the money is gone, this band of buffoons will leave.
Klaus 💯 🙏
Clown….
You’re becoming a clown. I’ll buy you the suit and face paint in January…
Just when everyone (stadium, social media) is trashing them, they all come out doing interviews. Even with this stunt, they muddy the waters more than clarify things. One interview worse than the other, to the fan base anyways. Cardinale’s interview seemed more like a begging for investments, seemed desperate. Clowns, never seen anything like this.
Bunch of low-wage keyboard losers commenting on the boss. LOL
He’ll be gone at the end of the season, along with Moncada.
You were never there. LOL!!!!!
Yes Zlatan as a player but clown or coward as a management team. Novice
Yes, to be a clown and create controversy to deflect attention away from the mediocrity we’re seeing 24/7.
Gerry initially said he didn’t want to hire former players, but Giorgio convinced him that I was different.
When it comes to numbers, we rely on Giorgio. When he starts doing his calculations, like which players we can afford, he’s a monster.
We are in for a ride hehehe
So much hate for the management. Say all you want guys. I don’t like the way we play (boring, sometimes without bite, etc). But we have been improving. Football is more a business these days. And if Redbird is ready for long term investment dream like this, he is not stupid. He has staked the most and the guy is patient. I have no qualms with him yet, unless the project eventually fails, where we can say his business idea was flawed.
BTW, PSG with their heavy spending turned out to be a failed project. Ours is just beginning.
