CorSport: Another injury setback for Ibrahimovic forces reflections on his future

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be available for any of the three matches against Napoli this month, due to picking up a muscle problem that will see him absent on Sunday and then because he is not in the Champions League squad list.

As Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) reports this morning, the 41-year-old had already raised the white flag before Sweden’s match against Azerbaijan due to feeling some discomfort, and in recent days at Milanello he had been doing individual work thinking it could solve it.

However, a check-up yesterday revealed a problem in his right thigh which will again force him to stop for two or three weeks, so he will also miss the home match against Empoli scheduled for Friday 7 April.

The paper then understandably wonders about Ibrahimovic ‘s future as his currently contract expires on June 30 and the moment there are no certainties about a renewal. Reflections will be made in the coming weeks based on Zlatan’s physical condition.

A separation from Milan cannot be ruled out, while in the future Ibrahimovic could also stay at Milan with other duties off the field, being some sort of ambassador, a first team manager or potentially even going into the management side.
