Inter’s Lautaro says UCL victory over Milan will stick with him ‘for a lifetime’

By Euan Burns -

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has said that the semi-final victory over AC Milan will remain with him for the rest of his life.

The Argentine striker was speaking to Sky Sport (via Milan News) after the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night when he discussed the significance of the night for him on a personal level.

Whilst it cannot be ruled out that there is bigger success to come for him in the future, the former Racing Club explained that he will never forget that match in which he scored the winning goal.

“This night will remain for a lifetime with me, for my teammates and for the fans. There’s a lot of history in there and we dealt with it in the right way. We’re moving forward and we’re so happy,” Martinez said.

Martinez has been a key player for Inter in the past few weeks and has driven their return to emphatic form, scoring almost every time he takes to the field.

He was the captain of the team against AC Milan on Tuesday and he spoke about the importance of that to him on a personal level.

“Wearing the armband is special. I try to give my best, both on and off the pitch. This year I have grown a lot, I think a lot before I do things and I have a family behind me that is always there. My teammates make me grow every day and I learnt a lot from Messi at the World Cup,” he said.
