AC Milan are to blame for not getting the best out of midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to former player and current intermediary Fabio Simplicio.
Paqueta joined the Rossoneri in January 2019 and initially did well for the club. However, as Gennaro Gattuso was sacked, the Brazilian struggled to find his place in the team and was eventually sold this summer.
He has played four times in Ligue 1 for Lyon since his arrival and although he is yet to register a goal or an assist, it seems as though fans and the media are warming to the Brazilian.
According to Simplicio – who was interviewed by Tuttomercatoweb.com – Milan only have themselves to blame for not seeing the best of the 23-year-old.
“For me it depended a lot on Milan’s tactics, they weren’t in line with his characteristics,” he said (via MilanLive).
“He is almost a staple of the Brazilian national team, while in Italy he was not given the opportunity to express himself. Today, however, Milan are flying, the sale was the right choice.”
Lyon paid €20m to land the 23-year-old and while that is a figure Milan were very happy to receive, it seems as though he is beginning to flourish in his new home.
