Jacobone: RB Leipzig midfielder flattered by Milan interest but would prefer Bayern move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are admirers of RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer but the player for the moment has other destinations in mind, according to one journalist.

According to MilanNews, the Rossoneri management are looking to sign the following before the window shuts: a deputy right-back, a fourth choice central midfielder, a new right winger, an attacking midfielder and a young third-choice striker.

Interestingly, Sabitzer was listed among a few other targets for the attacking midfielder role given that his contract with Leipzig expires in June 2022 making him a market opportunity to add an experienced Champions League performer.

According to the latest from Alessandro Jacobone, Sabitzer is indeed a profile that the Rossoneri management and head coach Stefano Pioli hold in high esteem. However, even though the 27-year-old Austria international is flattered by the interest, he has other projects on the table and is currently more enticed by the possibility of joining Bayern Munich.

  1. And so now we know why we haven’t “already” signed Sabitzer. The player is interested in Bayern and I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t holding out for an offer from the EPL too. People criticize the club, Maldini, Massara, etc., but there are many moving parts, most of which we’re not privy to.

    1. The good thing will be if he isn’t signed. Isco would be a much better player for Milan. You’ll see where Sabitzer will end up if he moves, and I think it won’t be a CL club in the Premier League, none of them want him.

      1. Or need him perhaps. Maybe he’s happy going to a mid-table EPL club and making more money than Milan would pay him. But it’s all relative. Is Vlasic better now (or long term)? Maybe, although one plays in the Bundesliga and the other in Russia. But if we can’t afford Vlasic, is Sabitzer better than Brahim? Is Isco still motivated? Is James physically sound, and at 29, is he worth the price both in fee and salary? People seem to dislike Sabitzer for some reason that I can’t identify. His record is pretty good, he has experience in the CL, and plays in a top 4 league. In contrast Hauge doesn’t have a big track record, but people are treating his departure as though it’s the second going of Kaka. Strange frame of mind.

        1. Cant really say im surprised that people complaints as much as they do as i remember when he joined us i saw comment posts on some media that said we got a better deal than juventus got for chiesa and some even saying that we pretty much had the future messi or c.ronaldo in him. Obviously he is a technical gifted player but he is also a former futsal player to my knowledge but that doesn’t mean he will be a world class player down the road. Anyways i will be a bit saddened if he leaves us but if it overall help us to progress as a team and club then ill accept the sacrifice. In the end though i would love us to sign sabitzer who would be a valuable aquisition.

  2. Get Isco or Vlasic then. He won’t even get playing time at Bayern ahead of the midfielders like Goretzka or Kimmich. Clown
