Journalist claims Ibrahimovic could take brand new squad number at AC Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could wear the number 21 shirt upon his return to AC Milan, according to one journalist.

The Rossoneri announced the news via a statement on their official website, with the Swede having put pen to paper on a deal which will run until the end of the current campaign, and it has been confirmed that it can be extended for another season.

Ibrahimovic revealed his delight after it was officially announced that he had secured his return, proclaiming: ‘I am returning to a club that I respect enormously and to a city that I love’.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reporter Nicolo Schira made the claim on Friday that Ibrahimovic will take back possession of the No.11 jersey once his return is all formalised.

The number is currently held by Fabio Borini, though he looks almost certain to depart next month which would free up the slot, but there are some doubts over whether the same number can be registered to two different players in the same season.

Journalist Alessandro Alciato is claiming (via MilanEye on Twitter) that Ibra could take the No.21 shirt as a result, which is currently vacant.

Sky Italia – as cited by Calciomercato.com – are also claiming that the Swede will take the 21 shirt.
