Journalist claims Milan are ready to move as Modric asks to leave Real Madrid

By Oliver Fisher -

Luka Modric has told Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave the club this summer, one journalist claims.

There has been persistent speculation this summer that Milan are dreaming of signing the current Ballon d’Or winner.

It centres from rumours that that club’s leadership are in the market for a top class midfielder to help Marco Giampaolo implement his favoured 4-3-1-2 system.

It was even claimed earlier in the month that Milan are preparing a contract offer for the Croatia international, with Real having set an asking price of €20m.

However, denials from the Spanish media soon arrived, while it has also been suggested that Milan could wait until next summer to launch a more serious assault.

Despite this, Louis Girardi claims that Modric has requested to leave Real in the current window following a meeting with Florentino Perez.

He no longer sees himself as a key part of their plans, as Zinedine Zidane is apparently firmly set on the idea of signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

Although it will be difficult for the Rossoneri to sign him, Boban is trying to tempt his compatriot to move to San Siro.
