Jovic admits it would have been an ‘honour’ to join Milan as he reveals Ibrahimovic wish

Fiorentina striker Luka Jovic has admitted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is his idol and that he is hoping to swap shirts with him after tonight’s game.

Jovic was actually linked with a move to Milan in recent transfer windows but he joined Fiorentina on a free last summer having spent time there on loan in the previous campaign. The move has been a success as he has 10 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions so far in 2022-23.

Tonight he will face off against Milan at the Stadio Artemio Franchi hoping to add more goals to his tally and he will come up against Ibrahimovic, who he has admitted to having a strong admiration for.

“He is my absolute idol, he has left an unforgettable mark on football and he is still the added value of Milan today. Another idol is Radamel Falcao, for his hair and style of play,” he told La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com).

Jovic also spoke about Milan’s interest in him in the past, seemingly admitting that there was something in the pipeline a couple of years ago that did not materialise.

“For me it would have been a source of great honour and pride to take Ibra’s place at Milan two years ago, but nothing came of it.

“Today it will be a dream to meet him, at the end of the match I would like to exchange shirts with him.”
