AC Milan have decided not to use their option to extend Luka Jovic’s contract, and his departure will soon be official.
It was an hourglass that was flowing and, given how things were going, it seemed obvious that it would run eventually. La Gazzetta dello Sport have confirmed that Milan and Jovic’s paths will separate, and the adventure is over.
The Rossoneri had the possibility, exactly like a year ago, to unilaterally exercise a renewal option, but they didn’t move. The deadline was yesterday, and therefore the Serbian striker is virtually a free agent, waiting for his contract to formally expire in all respects at the end of the month.
A rollercoaster adventure
A few weeks ago, a new deal for Jovic seemed a formality. He played excellently in the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter, when he was decisive with a brace that earned him a start in the final too.
This led to talk of a potential multi-year extension, an idea that was not followed up, also due to differences on the formula. In fact, Milan signed him with a contract formula that allowed the club to be able to exercise one-year renewals from year to year, but the Serbian wanted more security.

It has also become clear that Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri have other ideas and would prefer to focus on other profiles, given the links with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, Moise Kean and Mateo Retegui.
Jovic says goodbye after two seasons in which he put together 47 appearances and 13 goals, winning the Supercoppa Italiana. He had more lows than highs but was able to make a mark. Now a new adventure awaits, possibly with Cruz Azul in Mexico or Botafogo in Brazil.
What a weird and disappointing end. Never consistent but produced some good moments. And the contract seemed so favourable I’m surprised we aren’t renewing. Hope he doesn’t sign in Italy because he’ll score buckets against us
He has been reasonably useful for Milan, liked his attitude too. Thank you and Good luck Luca!
All the best Jovic. Milan 🤡
We are losing tammy, jovic and camarda as third striker. Why are they taking it for granted. Do they think good striker comes cheap and without european championship can seduce them? Think about it mr. “Fuhrer”Lani and Igle Taro.
Jovic it’s more useful for the 3rd Milan strikers. With No European football next season but still wants retegui / vlahovic, Where’s money come from to pay them all ? Italian daily dreaming bro. Hahaha…
Removing Jovic and not trying to take Abraham is an Attacking suicide.
Unless we don’t go for FREE AGENT

Best attack is defence
Wasn’t terrible off the bench… Good Luck to him.
So… They’re apparently trying to find strikers capable of scoring +20 goals per season without any service? We’ve seen Tammy, Jovic & Gimenez score goals and they can continue doing that if they get service. But the fact is that our midfielders didn’t feed them enough. Keeping Jovic (free player etc.) would have been a no-brainer but I guess it’s “wiser” to splash out 2/3 of the whole transfer budget on an striker whose career is going downwards (Vlahovic, Darwin etc)…
Apparently, when you don’t pay for it then it’s of less value than what you pay for 🙂
Yes, it seems that way…
