Kaka describes Milan derby as ‘unique’ as recalls his first goal against Inter

By Euan Burns -

Former AC Milan attacking midfielder Kaka has talked about the importance of the derby against Inter and reminisced about his first goal against the Nerazzurri.

Speaking during an interview with AC Milan (via Milan News), the Brazilian spoke enthusiastically about the importance of every match against Inter and what it was like to be in the city in the run-up to the matches.

He explained that it is a unique fixture within football, saying: “The derby is a unique match. Wherever you go people talk about the derby. The Milanisti tell you to win, the Interisti tell you not to play tricks. It’s a match that can change a season,” Kaka explained.

He then reminisced about the first time that he scored for Milan against Inter and the way that the fans reacted in the stands.

“It’s very nice to remember my first goal in the derby. It stays in my mind forever, I remember the goal, the exultation and the fans coming down towards me. I never dreamed that my first with the Milan shirt could come in a derby,” he said.

Milan are hosting Inter at San Siro on Wednesday night in the first leg of a Champions League semi-final EuroDerby, the likes of which has not been seen since 2003.

Both teams come into the game having picked up important wins against Roman sides at the weekend. Milan beat Lazio 2-0, whilst Inter beat Roma by the same scoreline.
