Kalulu reveals what Maldini and Massara did that convinced him to join Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Pierre Kalulu has revealed that the lack of pressure AC Milan put on him to make a decision was a factor in making him feel comfortable to join.

Kalulu joined Milan from Lyon for a development fee of €480k and it would be fair to say not many fans or journalists knew at that point that he would become an established starter at the club within two years, given he had not made a single appearance in senior football.

The Frenchman is now a virtually immovable member of Stefano Pioli’s first choice line-up and he was a huge part of the Scudetto success last season forming a centre-back pairing with Fikayo Tomori as the bedrock of a defence that conceded only two goals in the last 11 games of the campaign.

Kalulu spoke in an interview with La Repubblica and he recalled his move to Milan and above all the conversations he had with Maldini and Massara, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“I was in the second team at Lyon, Maldini and Massara in a video call enthusiastically told me things about my way of playing, things that only those who had observed me for a long time could tell me,” he said.

“This flattered me. As much as I pretended not to notice, it was very nice. They told me that Milan would wait for me 2 months, 6 months, 1 year, 1 year and a half.”

  1. Milan waited all players. But some of them (like casheie, turkoglou, and now Leao) easily forget about that fact.

    1. Why because they ask for more money that we cannot or will not pay??? LOL. What a foolish comment bro. Also we didn’t discover Kessie or Hakan or Leao for that matter. Don’t make up BS
