CM: An Olympic promise to San Siro jeers – Kessie’s Milan adventure destined to end sourly

By Oliver Fisher -

It is becoming increasingly apparent that Franck Kessie’s time at AC Milan will come to an end once the season reaches its conclusion, and fans are slowly beginning to turn.

Calciomercato.com recalls how the the Ivorian left Milan for Tokyo with the promise to return from the Olympics and resolve his renewal, but six months later nothing has changed and if anything the situation has deteriorated.

We saw this first hand on Sunday when Kessie’s name was jeered before the game and when he come on, with the Curva displaying a banner reading: “Those who love Milan prove it with facts. Best regards to those who are dissatisfied.”

The cauldron of San Siro is beginning to simmer because the fans have realised that they cannot give unconditional support to a player who seems determined to abandon the club’s project after what will be five years in favour of earning more money elsewhere.

Barcelona are keen on signing him while Inter and Juventus are observing, and PSG are there too as expected. However, it must be noted that there are not many clubs who can satisfy the economic demands of Kessie and his entourage, with Milan having made a final offer worth €6.5m net per season that was not deemed enough.

Stefano Pioli encouraged fans not to boo Kessie and still deems him a key figure for the next few months, but the report adds how the feeling is that we will bear witness to other reactions such as the whistles in the Samp game.

  1. This is utterly ridiculous – if he helps the club compete for a title and then chooses to leave when his contract is up, great. Actively harming the club by being negative when there’s so much to cheer… feels like some fans would rather Kessie lose than Milan win.

He’s not downing tools and is fighting with his teammates, so don’t get on his back.

    1. He hasn’t really been that good this year.

From the start of the season he has become the Kessie of old where he is good for 2-3 costly mistakes a game.

He was fantastic last year because he cut that out of his game… or we didn’t notice as much because Tonali and Bennacer were not performing as well as they have been this year

  2. His quality is clearly down this year compared to last year when he was so solid in possession, made great tackles, and of course was fantastic converting from penalty spot. But this year, he probably is distracted by all the contract talk which doesn’t help; but I do believe he still loves his teammates and wants to help the team. I think it’s stupid of the fans to whistle/boo at him and criticize him while he is on our team trying to help. Fans should support our boys like Pioli said. It doesn’t help him or our team to boo them like that. He has every right to go try to make more money with another club if another club is willing to pay him 8 million per year and Milan only 6.5 million. I have no problem with him trying to make more money — it is his right. But while he is with us, he is with us — we should support him.

  3. He shouldn’t have made a fake promise initially by giving all the milanista hope. Not knowing is hypocrite with his fake love for milan but great luv for money..Good dat we have a replacement for u..fake presidente
