Kessie confirms he will ‘say goodbye’ to Milan: “I feel really strong emotions”

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has confirmed his departure from the club at the end of the month and has sent a farewell message.

Going into the game against Sassuolo on Sunday at the Mapei Stadium there were much bigger things to worry about other than the fact it was likely to be Kessie’s last game in a Milan shirt after five years of service.

However, he made sure that he would have the final say as he scored the last goal of the season, making it 3-0 with a sweet side-foot finish to essentially win the Scudetto for the Rossoneri before half-time following on from Olivier Giroud’s brace.

A new challenge at Barcelona awaits for the Ivorian, who joined from Atalanta back in summer 2017 under the Yonghong Li ownership, and he spoke about his time with Milan on Canal + Sport Africa.

“I feel really strong emotions. It was five very important years where I married a project. I am very happy for the city, for the club, for my team-mates, for the coach, for me and for my whole family,” he said (via MilanNews).

“It’s my last month of contract here, but in these five years we have managed to get back to the Champions League and win the Scudetto. I did what they bought me for and I think there is no better way to say goodbye.”

  1. He messed up with his comments during the olympics, his form dipped and made a few costly errors during the season and I was very critical of him, but man he really stepped up in the last 6-7 games getting that 3rd goal against Sassuolo is a fitting send off and respect to him, wish him the best of luck at Barca.

  2. Players come, players go, if we buy someone or taking a free contract it’s a player that is leaving a club and a fan base that will miss him just like we will miss Frank. It has been 5 years he can leave with his head up.

    1. He will be missed like Calhanoglu, they will make fun of him within a year. I don’t understand who could miss Kessie, a public liar.

  3. He has a hand in the championship as well so i’ll give him some credit where due but its exactly because of his comments during the olympics in regard of his contract renewal that my memory of him will forever be a tainted one.
The fact that he held us for fools for a long time and now are trying to justify his move doesnt really make me like him one bit more, infact a little less and cant really wait for our players to trash him in the future.

  4. dude crorossonero chill down! you are behaving like a kid! we won the title, he is going to do what he’s going to do! At least try to be respectful in the end, he and Hakan are different cases, Hakan went to our rival for money, and he went to a different club for a different experience and also for money. so please, with due respect, chill the f down!!

  5. At one time he was my favorite player but in the end he chose to leave. I will always appreciate what he’s done for this club and I look forward to rooting against him in the CL.

  6. Good luck on your journey and may you reap success ( except against us). You’ve been a hardworking reliable servant, who has made a significant contribution to the resurgence of this great club. Winning the title is a fitting end to your time here, and while I don’t think that you’ll be missed on a tactical level, you’ll remain part of the recent glorious history that you helped create.
    Thank you

  7. He didnt expect us to come this far. And didnt give 100%. This season he gave less than bennacer & tonalli. Would not miss him at all. He would have been less known if he was not taking penalties as his field goals are few.
His performances improved, I think, when he became a bench warmer. tonalli was the undisputed starter and rightly so.bennacer was peaking towards the end of the season and had Diaz been performing well, we would not have seen much of Kessie on the field.
Let him reap what he has sown. Thats fair enough.

  8. Thank you kessie
U will be missed alot, just like calhagnolu and dollaruma. They are both very happy at their club, and i hope u will be happy too in ur new club.

Ur position will be very hard to replace, just like when donnaruma left there is no one with same/higher quality to replace him.

  9. Kessie has been monumental for us. He’ll be sorely missed. Best of luck in your new club except against us. It was a pleasure seeing u play for the red and black
