Poor aim and defensive success: All the key stats from Milan’s draw against Bologna

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to restore their three-point lead at the top of the table last night as Bologna defended the draw well. Although it was another clean sheet for the Rossoneri, there is understandably disappointment.

The Rossoneri are now just one point ahead of Napoli and the distance could be the same to city rivals Inter, who have a game in hand. It’s far from ideal, therefore, but at least destiny remains in their hands.

As said, the performance was defensively sound last night. In fact, it was Milan’s fourth consecutive clean sheet in the league last night. Take a look at all of the key stats below, as provided by the official website.

➤ AC Milan had 33 shots, the most attempts they’ve had without finding the net in a Serie A game since the 2004/05 campaign.

➤ AC Milan have kept four consecutive clean sheets in a single Serie A season for the first time since May 2021 (five back then).

➤ Stefano Pioli took charge of his 100th AC Milan match in Serie A tonight. Since the start of the three-points-per-win era (from 1994/95), he’s the tactician who has had the best points-per-game average for the Rossoneri in the league: 2.03.

➤ Rafael Leão had eight shots in this match, which represents a record for him in a single Serie A encounter.

➤ Olivier Giroud has now made 350 appearances in the Top 5 European leagues.

  1. Pioli is biased and confused…. Diaz will obviously leave Milan at the end of the season, why play him from start to finish on such a crucial game?
And Calabria! Lord have mercy, he should be a ball boy… I’m ashamed seeing him wear the captain armband! Walahi fa!
