Kjaer delighted with his return: “I’ve been waiting for this day for seven months”

By Isak Möller -

Simon Kjaer has recovered from his knee injury and he took part in the first training session of the pre-season at Milanello earlier today. Afterwards, the Dane was clearly very happy about his return.

The defender sustained a serious injury in the game against Genoa back in December of 2021. He has since been working hard to recover and today, he was rewarded as he was able to take part in the Raduno at Milanello, with the fans watching on.

Speaking to MilanTV afterwards, as cited by MilanNews, Kjaer shared his thoughts on his return and the recovery process. He also spoke a little about the upcoming season for Milan, who want to defend the title.

On the return…

“I have been waiting for this day for 7 months, I’m happy to be here and play football.”

His condition…

“I’m fine, I’ve done a lot of work so far but there is still a lot to do. Physically I’m fine, I’ve taken some holidays with my family. But during the holiday I only had the desire to go back to training.”

On post-training data…

“I did four months with data and numbers. I know where I need to be and what numbers I need to grow physically, but it’s important to have numbers too. It was a good job.”

On the Scudetto…

“We are all happy with the Scudetto, but there will be pressure to give our best this year. Now we have to improve.”

On the pressure…

“We are Milan, we won the Scudetto and it has to be like that.”

It remains to be seen if Kjaer will be a starter for Milan next season as Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomroi have formed an unstoppable couple at the back. There are many games, though, so he will certainly get to play.
