Krunic declares ‘we are not happy’ but a win vs. Roma ‘can give us confidence’

By Isak Möller -

Milan managed to seal a spot in the last 16 of the Europa League this evening, knocking out Red Star Belgrade with 3-3 on aggregate. The Rossoneri, in other words, needed the away goals to advance.

It wasn’t a good display from Stefano Pioli’s men, who once again looked worryingly disorganised and this allowed the Serbian side back into the clash. Despite an early goal, and eventually a red card, Milan just barely made it through.

Rade Krunic played this game from start, just like the first leg, and did an okay job in the attacking trio. He won the penalty for the Rossoneri with his effort, which hit the hand of the degender. More fortunate than skill, of course, but still important.

In an interview with MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, the Bosnian was asked about the game and the performance. He also spoke about the clash against Roma, which will take place on Sunday evening.

On advancing to the next round…

“This is the most important thing, it must give us the confidence that was lacking a little. We are not happy with the game, but the important thing was to pass the turn.”

On Red Star…

“They had more days to prepare it, they have all the time to prepare games like this. Unfortunately, there was less space today but the important thing is to have advanced to the next round. It must give us confidence, on Sunday we have the possibility to win a great match.”

On Sunday’s match against Roma…

“After a couple of not as good results as we expected, a victory can give us confidence. We must try to do our best and prepare the match well.”
