La Stampa: €45m Man Utd man top of AC Milan’s midfield wishlist for January

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are still interested in the idea of signing Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport recently claimed that the former Chelsea man is the first name on their wish list, while the Daily Star then added Matic has been told by United that he is no longer required at Old Trafford.

Then, Calciomercato.com reported that Matic remains in the sights of Milan and Inter, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, and that the Rossoneri have the edge due to excellent relations with his agent.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly confirmed that Matic will be staying at Old Trafford beyond January despite the expiration of his contract in June.

According to La Stampa though – as cited by Calciomercato.it – Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban are continuing to look at potential midfield reinforcements which they will focus on after the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from Barcelona.

The paper claims that several names have ended up on the wishlist, among which the one of Matic stands out the most despite the comments of Solskjaer.

The Serbia international cost United £40m (€45m) when he joined from Chelsea (via The Independent).
