Laxalt: “I’ve always dreamed of playing for AC Milan”

Diego Laxalt was the first man to be presented at Casa Milan today, speaking to the press. Here’s what he had to say. 

On joining AC Milan: “On a personal front it’s been a special week for me, I’ve always dreamed of playing for AC Milan. So personally it’s a happy week for me.”

On playing in a four-man defence: “You always prepare as best as you can to become the best. I’m ready for this challenge with a huge club like Milan. I will give my best for the club. My thoughts are with the people of Genoa, I’m very attached to the city. I want to send my condolences to the city. 

On having played for Inter: “As for the start of my career, well, I’m pleased with how it has played out, because I’m here now. Playing against Inter will be interesting, I’ll give my all to win the derby and make the fans happy.”

On Gattuso and his position: “It’s down to the coach to decide my position, I’ll always be ready to give a 110% for Milan. 

On joining AC Milan: “It was special to get the call from Leonardo and Maldini as well. It’s a huge source of motivation for me, I’m happy to be a part of this new era of the club. It’s great to be here.”

On the clubs chasing him: “There was a lot of talk in the media, but as soon as Milan came calling I knew straight away this was the best option for me. This is a huge opportunity for me and my career.”

On his World Cup: “It was a dream come true. Fantastic experience and it helped me develop a lot as a player. I believe this was a turning point in my career.”
