GdS: Lazetic, Adli and El Hilali given a chance to impress vs. Liverpool – how each fared

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could not draw many concrete conclusions from the 4-1 friendly defeat against Liverpool yesterday, but encouragement came from the young forwards.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall how the spotlight was on Marko Lazetic for the game in Dubai as he led the line given Divock Origi’s absence due to injury, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic still recovering and Olivier Giroud at the World Cup.

The Serbian had a couple of chances but ultimately he was left a bit isolated by the rest of his team-mates as the Rossoneri were pinned deep for large parts of the game, but it was a very useful exercise and there were some encouraging moments such as the runs he made and his hold-up play.

Yacine Adli remains under the magnifying glass as he got on the ball plenty against Arsenal but was perhaps a bit less incisive against Liverpool, barring an excellent run and pass that set Lazetic away and should have been an assist.

Youns El Hilali came off the bench and his performance was positive, especially the moment when he cut inside onto his right foot and hit the crossbar from the edge of the box, also scoring an excellent penalty in the shootout win.
