Romagnoli discusses ’emotional’ return to San Siro and praises Milan

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli was back at San Siro today to face his former side AC Milan. It didn’t go according to plan for his Lazio, as they were outplayed for most of the game and conceded two goals.

Romagnoli left Milan on a free transfer after last season as he was unable to reach an agreement with the club on a renewal. He signed for his boyhood club Lazio and he has done well this season, even if today wasn’t a good day.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Romagnoli shared his thoughts on the game as well as the Champions League race. He also explained what it was like to face Milan at the San Siro.

What was missing?

“Let’s say that conceding two early goals isn’t easy. Against a team like Milan who are very physical and aggressive, it’s difficult to find space. They were very good at pressing our build-up. We’re sorry because we should have done more.”

What was it like coming back to San Siro as an opponent?

“I felt the emotions at first, but when the referee started the game it all disappeared. Before and after it was nice to see so many former teammates, so many people who work behind the scenes with whom I bonded a lot. It was very emotional.”

On the Champions League race…

“In Serie A, nothing is easy, any team is hard to face. It will be four battles.”

Milan will face Inter in the Champions Lague semi-finals on Wednesday and will be looking to build on today’s win. As for Lazio, they need to get themselves together in order to secure a top-four finish this season.

    1. Well at least he never said something bad about Milan. And the fact that no one booed him last match only means that he left with no ill.

    2. I really cant blame a dude for wanting to go play for his fan club.. and neither should anyone else imao

  1. Roma is a good guy and he was forced to leave us.
He always act as professional and was a good captain btw.
Really glad to see him succeed in his boyhood club.
