Lazio coach Sarri says ‘we will see the best version of Milan’ ahead of Serie A clash

By Euan Burns -

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has played down AC Milan’s poor recent form ahead of Tuesday night’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking during his press conference on Monday (via Milan News), the Italian coach refused to be lulled into a false sense of security after Milan’s stuttering form in 2023.

The Rossoneri have not been performing like title challengers and have been consistently dropping points.

Sarri chose to focus on the fact that Stefano Pioli’s side are still the Italian champions and must be treated as such in the run-up to every game.

“First of all, we must not be superficial and have the awareness of facing the Italian champions. They have always put us in difficulty, we can’t think we won’t encounter obstacles tomorrow. Pioli’s team will be more motivated than usual,” Sarri explained.

The two teams face each other on Tuesday in Rome with the game kicking off at 20:45 local time.

He did also stress though that whilst her expects Milan to be at the best, Lazio must grasp the opportunity to take points off of the champions and move up the standings.

“However, the match offers us a great opportunity, this must also be in our minds. We must take advantage of it, even if we will see the best version of Milan. I believe little in the Rossoneri’s poor condition,” he said.
