Chelsea have joined the race to land Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan in the January window, according to a report.
With the possible exits of Mateo Musacchio and Leo Duarte on the horizon, Milan want to cover themselves in defence and Simakan seems to be the main target.
MilanNews reported yesterday how talks with Strasbourg are ongoing, but it is now clear that he is the No.1 target for his ability to play both centrally and at full-back, adding that it is an operation that Milan could close at around €17m.
According to Le10Sport (via RouteOneFootball), Chelsea have made contacts with Strasbourg regarding the signing of Simakan as they look to bolster their back line. While Milan remain also very keen on the defender, the French club want more than €15m which is making things difficult to close.
Perhaps the saga is not near completion as we had initially hoped.
