Leao and Rebic will not respond to call-ups from Portugal U21 and Croatia due to injury

Two AC Milan forwards will remain at Milanello over the international break to continue their recovery from injuries, it has been confirmed.

Milan have 14 players who will join up with their respective countries during the upcoming international break, the club have confirmed. The likes of Sandro Tonali, Matteo Gabbia, Brahim Díaz, Pierre Kalulu and Diogo Dalot are in U21 action while Zlatan Ibrahimović will return almost five years after his last appearance with the Sweden shirt, while Franck Kessie and Ismaël Bennacer have AFCON qualifiers.

Some will have noticed that Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic are not among the 14 players called up by the national teams. The two forwards will not respond to calls from Portugal U21 and Croatia respectively in order to continue recovery from their injuries.

They will be in Milanello along with the likes of Davide Calabria, Mario Mandzukic and Alessio Romagnoli, who Pioli hopes to have back again soon.
