GdS: Leao and Giroud become Milan’s deadly duo with defence-splitting runs and goals

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are able to rely on two forwards at the moment who seem to have hit peak form, with Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud proving to be a deadline duo.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) points out, Leao and Giroud are the new masters of the Rossoneri attack which has had to once again deal with the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They are a real double threat because the Portuguese creates (and also scores himself) while the other has had a recent knack for being in the right place at the right time.

Giroud has 10 goals this season while Leao has nine, meaning Ibra was ousted from the throne of being Milan’s top scorer while he watched on and applauded. There seems to be a particular chemistry between the Portuguese and the Frenchman, which is there for all to see.

Since his debut at San Siro during which he scored a brace against Cagliari, he has continued to score every time that Pioli has fielded him from the start at home, even netting decisive goals against tougher opponents like Inter and Lazio too with four goals in four days.

Leao’s dribbles meanwhile literally split Lazio in two on multiple occasions, and it seems his game has taken a big step from the point of view of consistency. Now we look ahead to Sunday, when the pair will look to put on another show at San Siro.
