AC Milan announced the renewal of Rafael Leao earlier this afternoon and as the winger left Casa Milan, he shared his initial thoughts with the reporters present. Among other things, he discusses the potential number change.
Leao has penned a new deal with the Rossoneri until 2028 and he will earn a base of €5m per year, with additional bonuses to further up the salary. It’s a big achievement by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who have been working on the deal for quite some time.
Our colleagues at SempreMilan.it were among the reporters that intercepted Leao as he exited Casa Milan (see video below). Leao expressed his happiness and also talked about the alleged number change.
“I’m very happy, it was something I wanted to do and now it’s done. We hope to do great things in the future. The negotiation? We have reached an agreement and I’m very happy. I’m focused on Verona and then next year when we want to win many important things. Will I change my number? We see. 17 is a special number for me, then we’ll see.”

transfermarkt isnt an exact science but i think as leao renewal has only been made official now his value hasnt been readjusted as it was the same before the renwal, i suspect it will exceed kvarashkelias when teams values are updated again.

I agree with that sentiment he has proven to care about this club by his actions and i suspect at some point he will end up in epl as he has previously said he would like that experience but at least in the event we loses him down the road he will have gained us opportunities rather than weaking us.

Hahahahahahaha!!!! He’s crying right now! Probably the only “fan” who is upset Rafa resigned with us because now he has nothing to complain about with Maldini LOL. Grazie Rafa! He kept his word and guaranteed us a sizable transfer fee (not 40M@bb LOL) when he leaves. All the Leao haters can now STFU and be happy we have secured a valuable asset for our present and future. Tomori, Kalulu, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer and Leao – all re-signed. Well done M&M.
