Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao have both been nominated for prestigious rewards in recognition for their role in last season’s Scudetto win.
Leao was named as the Serie A MVP for his exploits in the 2021-22 Scudetto win as he racked up double figures in goals and assists across all competitions, and France Football have confirmed he is on the Ballon d’Or shortlist.

Meanwhile, they also revealed that Mike Maignan is on the shortlist for the Yachine Trophy – which is an award for goalkeepers – but he has also been named on the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist too.

It’s A good feeling to finally have some of our players get recognised for special things like this, it’s a good start……Leao is a good player but his greatest enemy is his attitude…..watch him at corners and dead ball situation, he simply doesn’t jump or do anything, he just only wants to run and dribble, reminds me of the young C.Ronaldo till he turned it up and went for everything: tappings, long range, shot range, headers, corner goals, dead ball goals, scrabble goals…always in the box and always wanting it more, if Leao do not develop that attitude of wanting it more than everyone, he will just be that player that had potential but couldn’t live up to it, we already have quaresma, balotelli etc there…….it’s for him to choose.
agree, earlier in last season he would mope around after losing ball near the goal. Pioli benched him and slowly as season progressed and ended he realized that if he fights to get ball back he has a chance to score. Think he is just used to being best player on pitch when at the lower levels of play/teams , now with the big boys he has to not only rely on his natural ability but realize that he has to work all the time, not just when he is attacking.
The worst mistake we will make this season is not renewing Leao this Transfer window. He is about to turn into a 250 mil player who will leave for free in 2024 for real madrid.
I really don’t understand, has M&M learned NOTHING From Dollarumma, Kessie and Turkish snake’s case? Just pay him the salary he deserves and lock him down. If we get into financial trouble, we can at least sell him then instead of netting a freaking 200M loss.

We keep saying “he’s asking for too much”, “he’s not worth 6m”, “he’s only played well in 3 months”, “he’s one dimensional”…
In today’s football, in another big team, this dude will easily earned 7m.
This nomination is a sign of great things to come for him (that’s if he can keep the intensity up and have a greater ambition).
I just hope we don’t loose him.
