Mediaset: Leao makes ‘absolute priority’ clear as ‘cautious optimism’ filters over renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

Rafael Leao has given his full priority to AC Milan and to renewing his contract rather than entertaining any interest just yet, a report claims.

Claudio Raimondi spoke on SportMediaset (via MilanNews) and he began with an update on his understanding of the situation pertaining to the renewal of Leao, given that his contract expires in June 2024.

The journalist states that the young Portuguese winger gave ‘absolute priority’ to an extension with the Rossoneri, as confirmed by his words from Qatar a few days ago.

It should be noted that two weeks ago in Dubai at the Globe Soccer Awards there was a meeting between the Rossoneri directors and Jorge Mendes, Leao’s agent.

A ‘cautious optimism’ filters at the moment from Milan’s side regarding this ‘infinite soap opera’, but it must be noted that Real Madrid and Chelsea are the two clubs most interested in the former Lille star and they are waiting for updates.

  1. His Priority should absolutely be to stay at Milan and Italy as long as possible cause he isn’t ready for higher tier leagues.
Some were saying he will show off during the World Cup, which will raise his price and demands.
Most of his fans had him penciled in as a starter after Jota’s injury.
Reality check. He has played just over 30 minutes over 2 games and was so bad in the 2nd game that the Portugal coach wouldn’t even give him a start in a meaningless game where he is fielding only back ups, which he is.
Is it because he is resting him for the knockout stages or their coach is not watching serie A

    1. Naaaah…. I bet according to some people here the Portugal coach simply doesn’t understand football as Leao is the best thing that has happened to Portugal since the birth of C.Ronaldo.
