As seems to be the case every year, AC Milan are heading into the summer needing to restructure their attacking department.
The defence has regained solidity thanks to the work of Massimiliano Allegri and his staff, while attacking output has often been lacklustre. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Robert Lewandowski is a leading candidate try help fix things, though some outgoings are expected too.
A department revolutionised?
Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, once the dream duo in the summer, have turned into symbols of great regret and what could have been. Leao and Pulisic have alternated time spent on the pitch because of injury issues, and when they have played they haven’t clicked.
Rafa hasn’t scored in over a month, Pulisic since the end of 2025. Leao has a €170m release clause, a figure now far from his true value, and could be negotiated for much less, perhaps around €70-80m.
Pulisic, once the goalscoring twin, has gradually declined and hasn’t scored since last December. A joyless 2026. The last-ditch effort is to bring him back at least as an assist provider, i.e. as a winger in a three-pronged attack.
Pulisic had scored eight league goals from August to December, a streak he has never matched. He’s been without a goal for over a hundred days. Along with his goal-scoring streak, the path to Casa Milan to sign a new contract has also been lost.
The USA international is tied to Milan until the summer of 2027, with an option for a one-year extension. A new contract seemed imminent, but then it was repeatedly postponed until it faded into the distant future, and who knows if it will ever be a topic again.

Absolutely fng ridiculous!!!
Pulisic was the hottest player in the whole league before getting injured before December. The best in the league. Only Lautaro has more goal contributions since Puli joined Milan. So… He has had rough times this year but name one attacking player in Milan who hasn’t. Go ahead, I’m waiting!
Same applies to Leao. He’s not “finished”. Both of their “downhills” are due to injuries and Allegri’s misuse. I’d rather fire Allegri than sell either of them. Period.
What’s next? Play Pavlovic as #10 and sell him unless he scores 10 goals and gives 10 assists?
So was Piatek at one point. The new Levandowski. Jokes aside, the media wouldn’t have anything to do it they wrote only facts.
Talking like they’re forwards now being moved to the wing and see if they can at least support and assist.
Lol.
Sorry this was not meant to be a reply.
When your best goal scorers are not scoring goals, you have to look at the coaching. You cannot keep blaming the players condition. Pulisic has been very active on the pitch for at least a month, but no goals.
As a sub he is given 10-15 minutes to score a goal.
How is that possible? Why isn’t he given set pieces occasionally? When you look at his record before Allegri, he was decent at set pieces.
He was actually very good at taking corners but Modric has been taking them since arriving (hard to argue). However, I think we actually scored more off corners when Puli was taking them.
Hear hear.
The problem is not the players. It’s the coach and the bad tactics. You can’t put square pegs in round holes and then wonder why it doesn’t fit.
Leao and Pulisic are not strikers. They are wingers. 433 would make sense for this squad even Nkunku would perform better playing LW as a backup for Leao.
The only player in the team that wouldn’t fit in a 433 is Pavlovic. Since he is better playing in a backup 3.
He would be the player that should be sold along with Tomori, Estupinan, and RLC. But Allegri MUST switch to a 433.
It would take less to strengthen the squad but if he persists with a 352 then we will have to sell Leao and Pulisic which makes no sense.
Pavlovic might be actually better as LB in back 4. him and Barte are similar and the serb likes to push front anyway.
Tomori as a 3rd option is not bad. people just like hating on him…
Pavlovic – Lucumi*/Gila* – DeWinter – ???*
Barte – Tomori – Gabbia – Athekame
I bet you neither of them would oppose a move if ACM isn’t going to change their attack and they get to play football in a manner that suits their skill set. Nevertheless, one will need to go.
Get Allegri the F away from this team
^^ The best solution.
Talking like they’re misfiring forwards now being moved to the wing and see if they can at least support and assist.
Lol.
Milan must keep Pulisic and get rid of Leo
