The AC Milan staff and management are hoping that Rafael Leao has found his form again at the ideal time, and it could coincide with being the right moment to renew too.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall that Leao was dominant during the 4-0 win over Napoli with his two goals on the night, and has finally returned to playing with a smile.
It had been two and a half months since he had last scored for Milan, but now the hope is that a complicated period is finally behind him and it could also be a good time to reach an agreement over a renewal.
The Portuguese winger has never hidden that he wants to stay at Milan and has been pushing for this solution for some time, but the negotiation remains complicated for the usual reasons, first of all the fine that the player has to pay to Sporting CP.
A new meeting between the parties has not yet been scheduled, but the idea is to meet again after April 18, the day in which there will be the return leg of the Champions League quarter-finals away against Napoli.
Getting to the semi-finals would bring even more money to Milan’s accounts, money that could in fact be very useful in the negotiation with Leao. There is a gap between offer and demand that needs to be bridged, and a helping hand could come from the Champions League.
