‘Leao tries Champions League roar’, ‘Vice Ibrahimovic’ – Today’s front pages of Italian papers

By Isak Möller -

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic is serving a one-game ban, Milan will play with Rafael Leao up front against Genoa this afternoon. It’s a big opportunity for the Portuguese to show his qualities, after a few ups and downs this season.

The Rossoneri are still in second place but the Champions League race is very tight, with just four points down to fifth place. Therefore, Milan will need every point they can get to succeed in their quest for a top-four finish.

On today’s front pages, a lot of focus was put on Leao and the big opportunity he has this afternoon. Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote: “Leao tries a Champions League roar. Milan without Ibra, against Genoa they rely on the youngsters”.

Tuttosport added: “Milan, there is Leao as the vice Ibrahimovic”. Corriere Dello Sport didn’t have a Milan-specific headline but referred to the big games today as the ‘Race for the mini Scudetto’. Take a look at the front pages in the gallery below.

  1. They shouldn’t expect much from him so far as he’s being played out of position, Mandzukic should be given the nod then sub him for Leao to swap position with Rebic,we need his(Leao) side runs
