L’Équipe: Giroud in doubt for World Cup final due to knee knock

There are serious doubts about whether Olivier Giroud will be fit enough to start tomorrow’s World Cup final, according to a report.

Acccording to L’Équipe, this evening’s training session saw Marcus Thuram tested as a centre-forward instead of Giroud, who has suffered a knock to his knee and therefore might not be in the right condition to start.

The build-up to the final against Argentina has been dominated by the outbreak of a virus in the camp, but the good news for Les Bleus is that all 24 available players should be available as Ibrahima Konaté, Dayot Upamecano, Raphaël Varane and Adrien Rabiot are expected to be ok.

Théo Hernandez missed yesterday’s session after a knee knock of his own, but in training Kylian Mbappé was used as a striker with Thuram taking up a position on the left wing and Ousmane Dembele on the right. We await further updated on Giroud’s condition.
