L’Equipe: Key RB Leipzig man closes in on Monaco move – Rangnick wanted him at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Ralf Rangnick has been dealt a huge blow in his hopes of bringing RB Leipzig sporting director Paul Mitchell to Milan with him, a report claims.

TMW recently reported that the current idea is for Rangnick to sit on the Milan bench with a man in charge of recruitment by his side too, with Mitchell the main candidate as current sporting director Frederic Massara’s position is under scrutiny.

As reported by L’Equipe on Sunday though, Mitchell has in fact said yes to an offer from Monaco, and he will take up a new role with the Ligue 1 side.

He has been promised freedom of choice and action at Monaco, with the aim of reviving a club after a difficult last few seasons, meaning at the moment the chances of him starting a new adventure with Rangnick in Italy appear to be very remote.

Meanwhile, reports are claiming that Milan have not given up on signing Tanguy Kouassi from PSG. Read here.
