L’Equipe: Milan-linked striker Icardi joins Galatasaray permanently in €10m deal

By Isak Möller -

Mauro Icardi has been linked with a move to AC Milan and while he remains on the wish list, the Rossoneri have other priorities. In the meantime, the striker has joined Galatasaray permanently.

The Argentine international joined Galatasaray on an initial loan deal last summer and as reported by L’Equipe (via SempreMilan.it), the Turkish side will now redeem him for €10m. Paris Saint-Germain are thus out of the picture.

Icardi has just one year left on his deal with the French side and that’s why the price tag is so low. This past season, he scored 22 goals and assisted an additional 7 in 24 league appearances, which has attracted the attention of big clubs.

The 30-year-old could still move this summer, there’s no doubt, as Galatasaray could potentially double their investment straight away. Milan are keeping tabs on the situation, as was reported by Tuttosport yesterday, but they have other priorities for that position (such as Mehdi Taremi).

  1. Keep our E-U slot and sign him. I’d see Icardi coming back with a chip on his shoulders. I’d love for us to stick it to Inter with us.

    1. 10m would have been perfect for us then we can allocate the rest of our budget elsewhere. That was the choice but sluggish management yet again.

      1. I don’t think this is slugishness, it feels like it’s a decision from the whole management team that he wasn’t considered. And not blaming new management for that, I don’t think Massara/Maldini wanted him either.

Guess they think he’s more trouble than he’s worth but personally I would have liked to have found out. Guess we never will now.

  2. 10M for Icardi is a steal. Say what you want about him but the man scores – consistently. He’s 30 so he still has a few good years left in him and would not have to play all the time with Giroud and possibly Columbo in the squad. If we can get him from Gala for 20M max – it would still be good business – esp since he doesn’t take up a non-EU spot. We aren’t spending big $$$ on a striker so our options are limited – Morata, Icardi Taremi seem like the only viable options. I’d rather gamble on Icardi for 20M than Morata or the Iranian player for the same fee. At the very least he would be extremely motivated to drop a brace on Inter come derby time lol. Leao Icardi Chuwezuke with Pulisc as ACM would be pretty solid with lots of offensive potential

  3. Another decent piece of Business by Galatasaray. They only paid 10-11% of Icardi’s salary while on loan last season. And now they got him for 10mil. Lots cheaper and he def can score more goals than Morata.
