L’Equipe: Milan-linked defender left out due to knee problem but Leicester place €29m bid

By Oliver Fisher -

Wesley Fofana was left out of Saint-Etienne’s latest game due to a knee problem but he looks set to depart this summer, a report claims.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new centre-back given their current injury worries, and Fofana is a player that continues to be linked along with Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer.

The 19-year-old Saint-Étienne defender had a fine season in France, attracting the interest of various European clubs, with Milan credited with interest by sources in both France and Italy.

Fofana also watched Saint-Etienne’s 2-0 defeat against Nantes on Sunday from the stands as he was not called up to the squad.

According to the latest from L’Equipe (via MilanNews), Fofana was not used in the game due to fatigue in his left knee, but above all due to a significant €29m offer from Leicester having arrived.

The report adds how the player for his part has expressed its intention to accept a transfer to the Premier League side.
