L’Equipe: PSG have two options to sign Leao – Milan’s potential asking price

By Euan Burns -

There are two options for Paris Saint-Germain to sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan and one of them involves meeting a price tag set by the Rossoneri.

As reported by French newspaper L’Equipe (via Pianeta Milan), the Ligue 1 champions do hold a genuine interest in signing Leao from Milan.

It should be said that any move would need to wait until they know what the future holds for Kylian Mbappe.

Were the Frenchman to leave, there are two paths that PSG can choose from. In Leao’s new contract, there is actually a release clause of €175m.

That would be an astronomical fee and one that Milan would be all too happy to receive, especially given Leao has been in very poor form this season.

The Rossoneri will know, though, that PSG are highly unlikely to pay such a fee and they would rather negotiate a different deal.

Were they to sit at the negotiating table, it is expected that Milan would ask for a minimum of €100m for the Portuguese winger. The new contract allows Milan to be firmer in talks with prospective buyers.

If Leao only had a year left on his deal by the summer, then PSG would certainly be able to get him for a lot less than €100m.

  1. There should be a defined policy when to sell star players. Selling players below 25 looks more as a feeder policy, not like a club that wants to go back to greatness with proper use of resources. So Leao, pay 175M or come back in two years. He might be cheaper but I would bet on the opposite ;),

      Higher than 175M€?!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
The “3 goals per season” winger with soon a half a year goalless drought in Serie A? For sure, 250M€ it is! 😀

      1. Put more smileys and maybe you will better get the context.
P.S. people pay to see Leao, not Pulisic. Also please try to find more exciting player Milan had ever since Pato.

        1. Just one of my smileys makes more sense than your claim for “higher than 175M€” evaluation though. Not going to add a smiley here because I’m dead serious about it.

  2. Start at 175, and we can give discount at 150. It would seem like great deal, but in reality we would be getting $hit load of money for player that plays good every 10 games or only when he feels like playing. So take the money, reinvest in squad and new coach and run

  3. Anything higher than 100m will be transfer record exceeding Kaka’s record fee. Just hope PSG buy RL10 for 175m with no hassle and buy TH19 for another 150m. Then we can buy Calafiori, Guirassy, SMS or Ricci 😀

    1. Heeeey, let’s not get carried away here! Calafiori & Ricci are Italians. Not going to happen. There’s plenty of (cheaper) fish in the seas of France. Why bother getting Italians when you can get “nobodies” from France?

  4. He’s gotta beat Kaka’s record. We will wait until he finishes celebrating his 25th birthday and sell. That way we won’t violate the policies.

  5. Well, looks like the rumor mill is beginning to track towards another revolution this summer. Probably Antonio Park-the-Bus Conte to come in and have his transfers funded by the sale of Leao. Makes sense from that perspective, since Conte has no use for wingers, or players that run hot and cold (trying not to use lazy here). We won’t get 175, but I think we can get 125m. With that we can get Conte’s preferred striker at 50-60m, a good CDM for 30m and another good CB for 30M. Selling Chukwueze (the other winger Conte won’t use) will bring in a bit more if we need it. Presto.

    1. “HAs anyone asked Leao if he actually wants to leave? ”

He’d probably reply to such question with “Is there a studio for me and my rapper career?” and he’d be out of Milan before you could say “gone”.

    2. Who cares whether he wants to leave or not lol? I am pretty sure Tonali did not want to leave. Really man who cares? The one thing we care is how much we are going to get if he goes.

      1. Oh my god! Are really that stupid? First of all, moving was Tonali’s idea, he saw the dollars in his eyes to fund his gambling addiction. More importantly, no club can ever sell a player under contract if he doesn’t want to leave. Do you understand what a contract is?

  6. Thank you to Maldini for getting Leao to resign. Now we are ensured a large transfer fee (unless Georgie boy eff’s it up) when we sell him to PSG. Gracie again Paolo.
