L’Equipe: Strasbourg beat Milan and Spurs to €12m Sturm Graz striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will not be signing striker Emanuel Emegha this summer as he is heading to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, according to a report.

French source L’Equipe reports that Strasbourg have beaten the competition from Tottenham and Milan to the signing of Emegha. The Dutch striker will sign for them this evening Sturm Graz, who will get €12m.

Emegha moved to Sturm Graz last August after some time in the Netherlands and Belgium. He played in Sparta Rotterdam’s youth team making his way into the first team, then joined Royal Antwerp and most recently making the switch to Austria.

Milan were linked with a move after apparently having had positive scouting reports on the 20-year-old, who showed his qualities in the Conference League in particular ending the season with 10 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances.

However, multiple sources are now claiming that the Rossoneri have closed a deal for Red Bull Salzburg star Noah Okafor instead for a fee of €13-14.

  1. No big deal, if there’s any truth in the rumours of our interest, he certainly is only back up option. If we get Okafor and Chukwu I think we won’t go for more forwards.

Emegha for 12m or Okafor for 14m, I think it’s clear who I want to pick.

    1. Apparently according to some sources Okafor is merely a rebic replacement and they still are looking for the forward which I find to be interesting

      1. Which sources is it? Haven’t see any talk like that.

But even if Rebic leave (which isn’t looking optimistic right now, he just refused) we still have depth in Forwards… We need to offload more before searching for more forwards imo.

LW : Leao, Pulisic, Chaka (Okafor)
CF : Giroud, Colombo, Origi, Pulisic (Okafor)
RW : Pulisic, Saelemaker, Messias, (Chukwueze)

And I actually rate Messias as useful squad player. He boast 8-9 goal contribution each season with limited playing time and hard working. That’s why he have suitors in Serie A, if he will leave I’ll wish him luck in any club he join.

        1. I agree, I was scrolling through twitter and it wasn’t a really trusted journalist like moretto so defo take it with a pinch of salt but I’ll look out for it

        2. Messias and Saelamaekers are going to exit. Colombo will be loaned out. Origi is also being pushed out. We surely aren’t going to rely on a 37 year old Giroud most of the season and Colombo.

          1. Yeah, they are going to but right now they are still here. And its not like they didn’t have suitors, they REFUSED TO LEAVE. That’s why I said, we need to sell them first to buy more forwards, as currently we are, like it or not, stacked in that area.

Messias and Saele can still be useful backup, and even if they leave we still have Pulisic, Chukwueze, and Romero at RW. Colombo still not sure to be loaned, depends on how Pioli view him after preseason. If they leave be it loan or transfer I’ll pray the best and cheer for them.

But we can’t have deadwood like Origi and Rebic that isn’t playing but getting combined >10m wages (tax included).

          2. The pressure of signing new players may actually force players to leave. When we sign so many more, players like Messias and Origi may not see their place in the squad anymore, and Origi and Rebic have basically been frozen out. neither of these three have any business still being here right now.

I’d probably give Saelamaekers a chance to stay, but that’s it.
