L’Equipe: Theo Hernandez set for the bench in France’s World Cup opener

By Isak Möller -

Theo Hernandez is one of the best left-backs in the world and he has certainly proved that in the last few months. However, it seems he could be on the bench for France’s clash against Australia in the World Cup.

With two goals and four assists thus far, Hernandez has been a key player for Milan this season. Above all, he has improved in the defensive phase and he’s now one of the Rossoneri’s best defenders, using his pace and strength in the best way.

Hernandez has obviously been called up by Didier Deschamps for the World Cup, but it seems the manager could snub the left-back for the opener. As per L’Equipe (via MiaSanMia), Theo’s brother Lucas will start at left-back instead.

It remains to be seen if anything can change in the final days but it seems Deschamps has made up his mind. He has tested an eleven without Theo several times in training, but on the plus side for Milan fans, Olivier Giroud is set to start.
