Loftus-Cheek convinced clubs give ‘extra’ against Milan ahead of Udinese clash

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been an inconsistent part of AC Milan’s team so far this season, but he will be hoping to make an impact this weekend after returning from injury.

For Stefano Pioli last season, the English midfielder was a mainstay, playing 40 times in all competitions – an impressive number considering his years of injury problems in England. However, things have not shaped up the same way under Paulo Fonseca.

So far, he has played eight games this season, and whilst he played the full ninety minutes against Bayer Leverkusen his last league start was a month ago, showing that he is not the ideal choice for the Portuguese head coach.

After missing the last fixture against Fiorentina because of a muscle flexor problem, the English midfielder is back in contention this weekend after partaking in training, and he gave an interview to Milan TV (via Milan News) to speak about the game.

On the injury…

“I feel much better, I had a little discomfort before the last game, but it was nothing serious. I’ve recovered well, so I hope to be ready for Udinese.”

On the challenge against Udinese…

“I think whoever plays against AC Milan tries to give that extra something to try and beat us. That’s what happens when you play for a top club. These teams want to beat you. We expect a very tough game, they are doing well and have several good players, so it will be a tough test for us, but we play at home and we expect to win these games when we play in front of our fans.”

On the upcoming matches…

“There are important games where we have to be completely focused and determined. Let’s take one game at a time and see what we can achieve.”
