Riccardo Sottil joined Milan as a last-minute solution in January and despite little playing time, the Rossoneri and Fiorentina could extend the loan.
With just two minutes left of the January window, Milan completed the signing of Sottil on loan from Fiorentina with an option to buy. It was a last-minute solution, as you can tell, which was needed as Noah Okafor completed his loan move to Napoli.

The Italian winger wasn’t expected to get much playing time, truth be told, but the fact that he amassed just 141 minutes on the pitch was a bit surprising. He certainly failed to establish himself in the team and you could tell that he was signed for numerical reasons.
That being said, as reported by Daniele Longo, Milan clearly see something in him. Indeed, while they won’t trigger the €11m option, they could extend the loan. There will be a new meeting next week with Sottil’s entourage to clarify the situation, but it seems La Viola could accept that solution.
It’s true that Sottil would be useful for the squad list next season, and he’s still relatively young at 25, so he could improve and get some more minutes with the team. On the other hand, it probably wouldn’t be the best move for the player himself to stay at the club.
Makes zero sense to keep him, with Saelemakers returning we have 4 wingers and Jimenez can also play that position so technically 5. We need 3 midfielders if Reinnders is leaving. A replacement for Theo and a good CB.
Sottil can play as an attacking fullback, but can on both wings. The big one is he is homegrown and italian, which I’m not sure most people understand due to playing to much fifa. We need a minimum amount of players that are homegrown(foreign players that played in the youth system for 3 years can be) and or italian. We don’t have many that fit that catagory( florenzi, calabria, camarda(loan), and bartesaghi (loan)most likley leaving) we will have to promote players from futuro/primavera, and i don’t see them doing that.
