Longo: Milan’s interest in Santos winger confirmed but operation is ‘difficult’

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are making some moves on the mercato, having secured the arrival of Devis Vasquez, and a right-winger could also arrive. In fact, the Rossoneri are interested in Santos man Angelo Gabriel.

Earlier today, L’Equipe broke the news about Milan’s interest in the Santos winger Gabriel. At the age of 18, he has already made an impressive 97 appearances for the first team and the Rossoneri have placed an offer of €15m, bonuses included.

Confirmation of Milan’s interest has now also arrived from Italy, more specifically Daniele Longo. However, the journalist states that it’s a difficult operation for the Rossoneri to pull off due to the economic demands of Santos.

Gazzetta Dello Sport reported earlier today that Vasquez would take the last non-EU spot but that report has since been changed to simply ‘one non-EU spot’. In short, the signing of Gabriel would be possible as well in that regard.

  1. If we really want the player and can strike a deal with santos then even if we cant sell messias then he has been living in italy since 2011 which is four more years than what is required to get a dual passport in italy to my knowledge.

  2. We need a right winger but not sure what we’ll do with the rest of the squad. Presumably we’ll need to sell and it sort of makes the permanent signing of Messias in the summer pointless. January really should be about emergency signings or some attacking boost for the run in which a right winger would give.
