Longoni highlights four mercato ‘regrets’ for Milan amid World Cup displays

By Isak Möller -

During the World Cup, which comes to an end today, we have seen several good players and many of them have been linked with AC Milan. In fact, there are a few ‘what could have been’ situations to highlight.

Milan have a very extensive scouting network, led by the brilliant Geoffrey Moncada, and thus often express interest in players that later explode. At the World Cup, we have seen several examples of this.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni has named a few players that could have worn the Milan shirt today. From Antonee Robinson to Enzo Fernandez, there are a few ‘regrets’ for the Rossoneri.

“The World Cup has also brought out old and new regrets. From the smaller ones, like Robinson whose transfer to Milan was abandoned due to heart problems and who today could have been an extraordinary deputy for Theo Hernandez.

“Then the bigger ones: our thoughts can only go to the Argentine duo Enzo Fernandez and Julian Alvarez. Players that the Rossoneri management had reached before many and who are amazing everyone today. Without forgetting Kolo Muani, coming off an excellent season at Eintracht and fresh from scoring also for France,” he wrote.

This is simply part of football and Milan can be satisfied that they have such a good scouting department, even it the signings don’t always pan out. But without that scouting, they wouldn’t have been a contender to begin with.

    1. There will ALWAYS be regrets. ALWAYS. Whether they’re bought or not. No team has a perfect transfer record. Just look at Barca for example. 😀
