Longoni labels Ibrahimovic’s potential departure as ‘good news’ for Milan

Andrea Longoni has labelled Zlatan Ibraihimovic’s potential departure from AC Milan as ‘good news’, with his contribution being highly questionable so far.

Ibrahimovic was announced as a RedBird advisor in December 2023 and since then, he has been heavily involved in the Milan operations. From last summer, his involvement ramped up and the result has certainly been mixed, mostly negative even.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni discussed various issues for the Rossoneri, such as the importance of choosing a sporting director quickly. However, he also made it clear that Ibrahimovisc’s departure will be for everyone’s best.

“In all this, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure from the Milan world (partial or definitive, we’ll see) can only be good news. His experience has been a failure so far from every point of view: an exit or a demotion would help to eliminate the damage or at least limit it,” he wrote.

The Futuro project has been one of the main points of criticism as Ibrahimovic fell out with Ignazio Abate, who is second with Ternana in the standings (two points behind the league leaders). The addition of Jovan Kirovski as head of the project has also brought a lot of confusion.

  1. Well, I’m not sure what Cardinale expected hiring Ibra who is clearly incompetent and has no experience as a director. I find it shocking how these men are business men and they can’t even do the basic things right.

Must be a very privileged life. Smh

Ibrahimovic is cancer for Milan. The sooner he leaves the better off the club and team will be.

Milan need a qualified Sporting Director and a Technical Director to manage the club. Both should have experience and a proven track record of success at a big club.

    1. When Cardinale sacked Maldini, he seeded someone to stabilize d team and sporting side… He made d error if thinking dat Zlatan could actually get into d players head and get their commitments… Unfortunately, Zlatan will never be Maldini…

      1. The biggest mistake for Milan in hiring zlatan as an advisor with a very delicate role. He doesn’t have any experience whatsoever and can never be like Maldini, He doesn’t even has the DNA to make any impact. The earlier they strike him out the better.

  2. Like I said before, if you look closely enough you will see that everything failing has Ibra’s fingerprints all over it. Photo ops, interviews, transfers, current team, Futuro, literally everything he touched…

    1. This clown of a journalist repeats the same crap as a parrot every week. According to him, the sports director is the most important function in the club, and no one should ask him if Barida and Massara were the most important in Milan? Secondly, there is too much personal against Ibrahimović, forgetting who is most deserving of the growth since 2020. He feels xenophobic and I don’t know why he is given space.

  3. Cardinali Hired Ibra as scape-goat. Cleary, Management has no clue on italian football. All matters to them global marketing forgetting the core is to have a winning team, which require investment heavily, build a team with depth, then money will follow, not the otherway around. Look at InterMilan as an example
