Longoni questions ‘soap opera’ of Ibrahimovic’s potential return: “Is it really worth it?”

The decision to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to AC Milan has been questioned by journalist Andrea Longoni, given the doubts over now much influence he will have.

The surprise retirement of Ibrahimovic after the final match of 2022-23 was an emotional curtain call after a rollercoaster campaign with players, fans and even the former striker himself left in tears.

However, it didn’t take long for return rumours to begin and that speculation escalated when Ibrahimovic’s car pulled up at the training ground the day before the Newcastle home game.

He has since confirmed holding talks with owner Gerry Cardinale, but as of right now there has been no official confirmation regarding his appointment and in what capacity it would be.

During his latest column for MilanNews, Longoni closed with a consideration on Zlatan’s potential second comeback, questioning the motivations and what influence he would have.

“Waiting for Ibra, whose announcement could arrive this week. But, let’s face it, the soap opera has also become tiring: ‘Let’s see, we’re talking about it’, same script for weeks, if not months,” he said.

“The main doubt is about the role that the Swede will play: it seems like a compromise, a middle ground. Instead, Milan would need constant and not part-time commitment. Is it really worth it?”

  1. Thank u very much, Ibrahimovic’s return should not be the main objective, getting a coach that will salvage this season is the main objective, Pioli is on his end credits, sooner or later, the club management needs to understand that…

  2. Maybe Milan is reflecting because they have already decided the sign a new coach but don’t know who and whether he will accept Zlatan in his team.

If that’s the case then I feat this season will end in a disaster as Pioli has no ideas how to manage this team and get the TOP-4 spot in Serie A. And let’s face it, Milan WILL LOSE against Dortmund and end last in the group. Why? Because Pioli never learns from his mistakes.
