Longoni: Why Pioli should opt for Mirante instead of Tatarusanu against Salernitana

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will resume their Serie A campaign on January 4th, taking on Salernitana away from home. There are quite a few question marks with regard to the XI and the goalkeeping position is one of them.

Mike Maignan is still injured and will certainly miss the Salernitana clash, and potentially the entirety of January which is a huge blow for Milan. As such, Stefano Pioli will have to rely on either Antonio Mirante or Ciprian Tatarusanu.

The latter has been the second choice up until now but in his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni argues that Pioli should opt for Mirante. That’s because the veteran did well in Dubai and displayed calmness, as opposed to Tatarusanu.

Mirante did especially well in the Liverpool game, despite conceding four goals, as he made several good stops and also made two penalty saves. It was really the first glimpse of Mirante in the Milan kit in a more professional clash, and he responded well.
